A
review of this CD appeared in Issue
28, September 1997, of Words And Music, to read that review, please click here. The reviewer seems to have been
rather taken by Kim Criswell's performance of I Can Cook Too.
When
listening to On The Town it should perhaps be remembered that it
is one of those shows (like many of these old musicals) that is very much of
era in which it was written.
Critics Comments
. “Louise
Gold is a riot as a chanteuse who sings a depressing song in the night club
scene where Gabey's pals are trying to cheer him up.” Joseph Molnar,
Sound Advice column, TALKN’ BROADWAY, April 1999
“The leads are more than ably supported by
an exemplary ensemble of vocal talent which includes Louise Gold, Matt
Zimmerman, Michael Bauer, and David Firth (plus a sterling performance by the
National Symphony Orchestra ably led by John Owen Edwards)” Terry
Wardrope, WORDS AND MUSIC, Issue 28, September 1997
